The National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE 2027) registration process has opened for admission to the 2027–28 academic session. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has published the application notice and Information Bulletin, including programme-wise schedules, examination details and fee information.
Candidates interested in fashion design, fashion technology, fashion management, lateral-entry routes or doctoral study should read the official NIFT Admissions Guidelines and NIFTEE Information Bulletin before filling in the form. Some programme categories follow different timelines, so it is important not to apply one deadline to every candidate group.

For those categories, it lists registration until 31 January 2027 and an online correction window from 1–4 February 2027; their subsequent test and selection stages differ. Candidates must use the schedule applicable to their chosen programme.
What Is NIFTEE?
NIFTEE is the entrance examination used for admission to programmes offered by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). NTA conducts the examination on behalf of NIFT. The 2027–28 admission process covers several undergraduate, postgraduate, lateral-entry, Artisan and PhD routes, with eligibility and selection stages depending on the programme.
The regular Stage 1 examination is proposed across 100 cities in India, using computer-based testing (CBT) and paper-based testing (PBT) as applicable to the test component. The official bulletin specifies the test components and later selection stages. Applicants should not assume every programme has an identical exam or selection process.
Programmes Covered
The official notice and bulletin identify these broad programme groups:
Undergraduate: Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.).
Postgraduate: Master of Design (M.Des.), Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.) and Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech.).
NIFT Lateral Entry Admission (NLEA): Lateral-entry routes for specified B.Des. and B.F.Tech. programmes.
Artisan category: The B.Des. route for eligible Artisan-category applicants.
PhD: Doctoral admissions, which include a written test conducted by NIFT followed by a Research Proposal Presentation and Interview (RPPI), as prescribed in the guidelines.
Programme availability, eligibility and the relevant selection stages must be checked in the 2027 guidelines. If you are applying for more than one programme, read the instructions carefully to understand how the application and fee are handled.
NIFTEE 2027 Application Fee
The Information Bulletin lists these fees for the specified programme applications:
Applicant category | One programme | Two specified programmes |
|---|---|---|
Open / Open-EWS / OBC-NCL | ₹2,000 | ₹3,000 |
SC / ST / PwD / PwBD | ₹500 | ₹750 |
NRI / Foreign National / OCI / PIO / SAARC applicants for UG/PG | ₹11,100 | Refer to the official guidelines |
The two-programme fee applies to the combinations identified in the bulletin, such as B.F.Tech. and B.Des., or M.F.M. and M.Des. Do not assume that any arbitrary pair qualifies for the combined fee. Bank or payment-gateway service charges may be additional.
Category selection is important. For OBC-NCL and EWS applicants, use the definitions and documentation required by the official guidelines. If your category or programme eligibility is unclear, consult the bulletin or NIFT/NTA helpdesk before submitting payment.
Eligibility: Read the Programme Guidelines First
There is no single eligibility rule for every NIFTEE applicant. Educational qualification, subject combinations, age criteria, qualifying examination and any programme-specific conditions depend on the programme and category. The official NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2027 and NIFTEE 2027 Information Bulletin should be reviewed before registration.
For example, a candidate applying for a regular undergraduate programme should check the relevant school qualification and subject requirements, while a postgraduate applicant should review the degree requirements for the selected course. NLEA and Artisan-category applications have their own eligibility conditions. PhD applicants must follow the doctoral admission requirements and the research proposal process.
Applicants should also check whether their selected programme requires a later stage such as a Situation Test, Studio Test, Technical Ability Test, interview or document verification. Clearing one stage does not automatically mean that the entire admission process is complete.

Exam Mode, Date and Selection Process
For the regular Stage 1 schedule, the NIFTEE 2027 entrance examination is listed for 10 January 2027. The bulletin identifies the General Ability Test (GAT) as computer-based and the Creative Ability Test (CAT) as paper-based, where applicable. The exact components depend on the programme and are set out in the official guidelines.
The bulletin lists the advance city-intimation slip for 21 December 2026 and the admit card for 4 January 2027. The centre, examination date and shift assigned to an individual candidate will be stated on the admit card. Candidates should not book travel solely on the basis of a general schedule if their personal details have not yet been confirmed.
After Stage 1, the next stage depends on the programme and the result. The bulletin describes further stages such as Situation Test for regular programmes, Studio Test/Technical Ability Test and interviews for specified NLEA routes, and a separate written test and research proposal presentation/interview process for PhD applicants. The official NIFT website will publish further instructions and result notices.
Documents and Checks Before Final Submission
Keep your contact details, educational records, category certificate where applicable, photograph, signature and any required disability documentation ready. Follow the file specifications shown on the official portal. Before payment, verify your name, date of birth, programme choices, category, contact details and uploaded documents.
After payment, download the confirmation page and retain the transaction details. A payment message alone should not be treated as proof that the full application has been accepted. Check the portal for a successful submission status and any further instructions.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Using the wrong deadline: The regular UG/PG/NLEA schedule differs from the separate Artisan and PhD timelines. Check the correct table in the bulletin.
Skipping the eligibility check: Read the programme-specific criteria before paying. Requirements can differ significantly between undergraduate, postgraduate, lateral-entry, Artisan and doctoral routes.
Selecting an unsupported programme combination: The combined fee is listed for specified programme pairs. Verify the permitted combination in the official instructions.
Uploading incorrect files: Poor-quality photographs, signatures or missing certificates can create problems. Use the format and size specified by NTA.
Not saving the confirmation page: Keep a copy of the completed application and successful payment proof for future reference.
Assuming the city slip is the admit card: City intimation and the admit card are different documents. Follow the instructions on the final admit card for the centre, date and shift.
