Last updated: 1 November 2026

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has revised the proposed schedule for the Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2026. Candidates should take particular care because Paper-I is scheduled across two examination windows: 2 to 6 November 2026 and 30 November to 1 December 2026. The second window is relevant to the JE (Telecommunication) examination, while the earlier window covers the other papers listed in the Commission's examination-city notice.

This update matters immediately for candidates appearing from 2 November. Do not assume that every discipline will be tested on the same day or that the date range itself confirms your personal shift. Your own admission certificate and candidate login are the documents to follow for the allotted date, shift and centre.

SSC's 26 October notice is titled “Important Notice - Revised dates for Junior Engineer Examination, 2026 and Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026.” The revised dates should be read together with the Commission's 23 October notice about examination city details and admission certificates.

Which candidates have the 2–6 November examination window?

The Commission's examination-city notice for JE 2026 Paper-I lists the papers scheduled from 2 to 6 November. These include General Engineering papers in Civil and Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. The same notice also lists Scientific Assistant papers for the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Computer Science and Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Physics.

The separate 30 November to 1 December window is for JE (Telecommunication). Candidates should check their own login and admission certificate rather than selecting a date based only on their engineering branch or an unofficial timetable.

SSC has not provided a universal discipline-wise day-and-shift chart in the short revised-date announcement. The date printed on an individual candidate's admission certificate is the safest reference.

What changed in the revised schedule?

The 26 October 2026 corrigendum adds a second examination window to the JE Paper-I schedule. The first window remains 2–6 November 2026, while the additional window is 30 November–1 December 2026. The Commission also revised the proposed schedule for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination 2026; that is a separate recruitment examination and should not be confused with the SSC CPO 2025 PET/PST result.

The revised notice does not announce a new application period. The SSC JE 2026 application process has already closed. Candidates who submitted an application should now focus on their city information, admission certificate and exam preparation.

How to check your SSC JE 2026 exam city and admission certificate

Use the official SSC website and the candidate login facility. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://ssc.gov.in/.
  2. Open the candidate login section used for SSC examination services.
  3. Sign in with the credentials used for your application.
  4. Locate the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 entry.
  5. Check the examination city information, if available for your paper.
  6. Download the Admission Certificate when SSC makes it available.
  7. Read the complete instructions printed on the certificate, including reporting time, gate closing time, identity documents and prohibited items.

The exam city information and the admission certificate are different from the final result. City information helps candidates plan travel; the admission certificate is the document to carry to the examination venue. Do not rely on a screenshot or a social-media message if the details differ from the official login.

When will the SSC JE admit card be released?

SSC's notice about city information and admission certificates indicates that candidates should use the Commission's online login facility and keep checking for the admission certificate. The exact availability can vary according to the candidate's examination date and the Commission's release process. Therefore, avoid assuming a single release date for every candidate.

If your examination is in the 2–6 November window, check your login frequently and download the certificate as soon as it is available. For candidates in the 30 November–1 December window, continue checking the official portal closer to the examination period. The certificate will confirm the final date, shift, reporting time and examination centre.

SSC JE Paper-I: last-minute preparation checklist

With the first examination window beginning on 2 November, candidates should avoid trying to learn the entire syllabus from scratch. Use the remaining time for structured revision and exam-day preparation.

1. Revise core technical concepts. Focus on formulae, standard definitions, diagrams, frequently tested principles and the topics where you have repeatedly made mistakes. Civil, Electrical and Mechanical candidates should follow their own notified discipline syllabus.

2. Practise timed questions. Solve a short mock test or previous-year question set under timed conditions. Review incorrect answers and identify whether the error came from a concept gap, calculation, misreading or time pressure.

3. Review General Engineering and non-technical sections. Keep revision balanced. Do not spend all available time on one favourite technical subject while ignoring the other parts of the notified Paper-I scheme.

4. Prepare documents in advance. Keep the printed admission certificate and the identity document specified in the instructions ready. Check whether any additional photograph or document is required by the current SSC instructions.

5. Plan the journey. Confirm the examination centre address, route and expected travel time. If the centre is in another city, arrange transport early and allow extra time for delays.

6. Follow the instructions on the certificate. Reporting time, gate closing time, permitted stationery and other conditions should be taken from the official document, not from generic exam-day advice.

Important points candidates should not assume

The revised date notice does not reopen the application process, announce a fresh vacancy count, change the syllabus, or provide a new Paper-II date. It is a schedule update. Similarly, the two examination windows do not mean that every candidate can choose whichever date is convenient. The Commission assigns the date and shift.

Candidates should also distinguish the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 from the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination 2026 mentioned in the same SSC notice. They are different examinations with separate candidate groups and admission certificates.

Always verify the latest schedule, city information and admission certificate on the official SSC portal before travelling to the examination centre.
