Eligibility and Age Limit

Eligibility depends on the post because this recruitment covers specialised positions. The age is reckoned as on 1 January 2027.

Post-wise age limits are:

• Chief Law Assistant: 18 to 40 years

• Public Prosecutor: 18 to 32 years

• Senior Publicity Inspector: 18 to 33 years

RRB Isolated Categories 2026 Selection Process

For most posts, candidates are expected to appear in a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by Document Verification and the prescribed medical examination.

For Junior Translator (Hindi), the recruitment includes a CBT followed by a Translation Test for shortlisted candidates.

The Translation Test is qualifying in nature, while the final merit for Junior Translator (Hindi) is based on CBT marks according to the recruitment rules.

RRB CEN 09/2026 CBT Exam Pattern

For posts other than Junior Translator (Hindi), the CBT consists of 100 questions for 100 marks with a duration of 90 minutes. Candidates eligible for a scribe receive the applicable extended duration.

There is one-third mark negative marking for every incorrect answer.

Minimum qualifying percentages are:

• UR: 40%

• EWS: 40%

• OBC (NCL): 30%

• SC: 30%

• ST: 25%

If the CBT is conducted in multiple shifts, RRB may apply the prescribed normalisation process.

Junior Translator (Hindi) Exam Pattern

Junior Translator (Hindi) has a different CBT structure because the post tests language ability along with other subjects.

The CBT assesses English and Hindi language proficiency along with General Knowledge, General Intelligence, Simple Arithmetic and basic computer knowledge.

Candidates shortlisted for the Translation Test can be called in a ratio of up to 10 times the number of vacancies. The Translation Test is qualifying and requires 60% marks to pass.
