Last verified: 28 October 2026. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened a one-time correction facility for candidates who have already submitted an application for the Rashtriya Military School Common Entrance Test (RMS CET) 2026. The correction window is available from 27 October to 28 October 2026, and the final deadline is 11:50 p.m. on 28 October.
This is a correction facility for registered applicants, not a fresh application window. The original application and late-fee periods have closed. Candidates should use the remaining time to compare the submitted form with their original documents, correct only the fields permitted by NTA and submit the changes before the portal closes.
The entrance test is for admission to Class VI and Class IX in Rashtriya Military Schools for the 2027–28 academic session. NTA has scheduled the written examination for 13 December 2026. This guide explains the correction dates, the fields that can and cannot be changed, the one-time rule and key examination details.

NTA issued the correction notice on 27 October 2026 after receiving representations from candidates. The notice provides a one-time opportunity to correct specified particulars. Once the correction facility closes, NTA says no further request for correction will be entertained.
Who can use the correction facility?
The correction window is intended for candidates who have already submitted an RMS CET 2026 application. It does not allow a person who missed the original application deadline to register for the examination now. The application period, including the late-fee period, ended on 25 October 2026.
Before opening the correction portal, keep the application number and login details ready. Compare the information in the submitted application with the candidate's birth certificate, school records and other relevant documents. Parents or guardians should supervise the review, especially for date of birth, category, school-class details and identity information.

Which fields can be corrected?
NTA's notice dated 27 October 2026 lists the following correction permissions. The wording in the notice matters: some groups allow a candidate to change one field, while other groups allow all listed fields in that group to be changed.
| Field or group | Correction permitted |
|---|---|
| Candidate name, father's name or mother's name | Any one of these fields may be changed |
| Class V and Class VIII equivalent details | All fields in this group may be changed |
| Examination city selection | May be changed, subject to NTA's stated conditions |
| Date of birth, gender, category, signature, thumb impression, domicile certificate and birth certificate | All fields in this group may be changed |
| Aadhaar details | May be changed only for candidates who registered using an identity document other than Aadhaar |
For examination-city selection, NTA clarifies that the candidate may change the city based on the permanent and present addresses. NTA is not bound to allot the candidate's preferred choice. The final centre details should be checked when the admit card is issued.
The notice also states that an additional fee may apply if a correction changes the fee payable. Any such additional fee is non-refundable. Corrections are subject to the portal's rules and must be submitted online during the notified period.
Which details cannot be changed?
The annexure to the correction notice identifies fields that cannot be changed during this window. These include:
- Mobile number
- Email address
- Permanent and present address
- Emergency contact details
- Candidate photograph
Candidates should not waste time repeatedly trying to edit locked fields. If a detail is not included in the permitted correction list, the correction notice does not authorize the candidate to change it through this facility. For a genuine issue, contact the NTA helpdesk using the official contact details and explain the discrepancy; do not assume that an email or phone request will override the published rules.
How to correct the RMS CET 2026 application form
Complete the correction process carefully and avoid leaving it until the final minutes. The following steps are a practical guide; the live portal instructions take precedence if the interface changes.
- Open the official NTA RMS CET portal.
- Select the RMS CET 2026 correction facility or candidate login option shown on the portal.
- Sign in using the application number and password or other credentials requested by the portal.
- Open the submitted application and compare each relevant entry with the candidate's original documents.
- Identify the field or field group that needs correction. Check the NTA annexure to confirm that the change is permitted.
- Enter the correct information exactly as it appears on the supporting record. Pay particular attention to the spelling of names, date of birth, category and class details.
- If the portal calculates an additional fee because of the correction, review the amount and pay it through the official payment gateway.
- Preview the corrected form. Check all details again before final submission.
- Submit the correction once and save the confirmation or final application record displayed by the portal for your own reference.
NTA says the correction facility is a one-time opportunity. Once corrections are completed and submitted, the form will be frozen. Do not submit a change simply to experiment with the portal. Confirm the required correction before pressing the final submit button.
What if the correction changes the examination fee?
The correction notice states that if a change has an impact on the fee, an additional fee will be charged as applicable. The additional amount is not refundable. The candidate should therefore review the category and any other fee-linked field carefully before submission.
If the portal displays a payment requirement, use only the payment option provided inside the official NTA portal. Save the transaction record and check that the correction has been accepted. A bank debit without a successful portal confirmation should be handled through the official payment-support instructions.
RMS CET 2026: exam date and admission classes
RMS CET 2026 is conducted for admission to Class VI and Class IX in the five Rashtriya Military Schools at Chail, Ajmer, Belgaum, Bengaluru and Dholpur for the 2027–28 academic session. These are English-medium residential schools run under the Ministry of Defence. Admission is subject to eligibility, the selection process and available vacancies.
NTA's application notice gives 13 December 2026 as the examination date. The test is a pen-and-paper examination using OMR answer sheets. Candidates should check the admit card for their final centre, reporting time and instructions rather than relying on unofficial centre lists.
Age and educational eligibility
The official RMS prospectus sets the age conditions with reference to 31 March 2027:
- Class VI: The candidate must be between 10 and 13 years old. The listed date-of-birth range is 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2017, both dates inclusive.
- Class IX: The candidate must be between 13 and 16 years old. The listed date-of-birth range is 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2014, both dates inclusive.
The prospectus provides a six-month relaxation in the upper age limit for wards of Armed Forces personnel killed in action, subject to the stated conditions. For Class VI, the candidate must have passed Class V or be studying in Class V and pass it before admission. For Class IX, the candidate must have passed Class VIII from a government or recognized school before admission.
The date of birth must be supported by the certificate type specified in the prospectus. The prospectus says a date-of-birth certificate issued by a Municipal Corporation or authorized local government body is required; certificates issued by a Gram Panchayat or another local body are not accepted for this purpose. Candidates should read the full prospectus before assuming that a particular document is valid.
Examination mode and preparation
The Stage-I written examination is offline and OMR-based. The NTA FAQ confirms no negative marking. The Class VI paper is bilingual (English and Hindi); the Class IX paper is in English only. The prospectus aligns the syllabus broadly with Class V for Class VI admission and Class VIII for Class IX admission.
Use the official syllabus rather than coaching predictions. Practise mathematics regularly, revise the relevant language and general-awareness or science topics, and complete timed OMR exercises. Written qualification is not final admission: the notified process also includes medical and interview stages, document verification, merit and available vacancies.
Common mistakes to avoid during the correction window
- Treating the correction facility as a fresh application window.
- Trying to edit locked details such as mobile number, email or photograph.
- Changing more than one field from the candidate/father/mother name group.
- Entering a date of birth that does not match the prescribed certificate.
- Forgetting that the form freezes after the one-time correction is submitted.
- Waiting until after 11:50 p.m. on 28 October 2026.
